Many years of experience as a basis for expertise and industry know-how

The MicroNova defense team focuses on innovative and high-quality solutions for the security and defense industry. Initial experience was gained as early as 1987 through the German Armed Forces' "Digital Survey Command Network" (Digitales Peilkommando-Netz, DPN) project. DPN formed part of the Eloka (Elektronische Kampfführung – signals intelligence/SIGINT) area. MicroNova developed the basic software and hardware for a digital multiprocessor system. The company thus realized significant critical overall parts of the solution's communication environment as a subcontractor of Siemens for a major project in the year it was founded. DPN, which was intended for border surveillance, was an important and critical project in the period preceding the fall of the Berlin Wall. The aim was to coordinate reconnaissance by using several radio towers as direction-finding equipment within what was known as the JLT project (website in German only).

One thing that can be said of all defense projects: MicroNova has been able to build up and expand not only its expertise in terms of content, but also extensive knowledge about processes, procedures and safety regulations. This fact is supported by our own quality standards: The company has been continuously TÜV-certified since the early 1990s.

Simulation projects

MicroNova has also successfully implemented complex security and defense sector projects in the area of simulation, for example for various system tests and for a tracked vehicle from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The functional scope included the complete simulation of the vehicle' s dynamics including control of the cabin and the audio-visual elements; it also involved an evaluation of the subsoil (tree trunks, ditches, etc.). An instructor interface and the control of the visualization and sound system were also implemented in the course of the project. The simulation solution was generically designed for different types of tracked vehicles.

In addition, MicroNova has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of hardware-in-the-loop simulation from the automotive sector. This can be applied, for example, in the simulation of complete vehicles in the security and defense industry in connected mixed reality environments (also for "iron bird" tests).

Another project in which MicroNova has been involved is MEADS (Medium Altitude Air Defense System), where MicroNova contributed its expertise in the field of military software and communication protocols.

TLVS (Tactical Air Defense System) is the planned successor to MEADS for the German Armed Forces. MicroNova acts here as a subcontractor for MBDA Germany. The delivery parts consist of hardware and software for the monitoring and management of the mobile command posts.
